What is Zumba® ?

Zumba® is a Latin and International dance-based fitness program which combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations that allow participants to dance away their worries and calories.

Zumba® is fun and easy to learn which allows participants to stick to the Zumba® fitness program and achieve long-term health benefits.

Zumba® is constructed using Merengue, Salsa, Reggaeton Samba, Cha Cha Cha and so many other dance themes that create a dynamic and exciting fitness system. The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone the body.

Zumba® utilises the principles of fitness interval training and resistance training to maximise calorie output, fat burning and total body toning.

Zumba® fans achieve long term benefits while having a good time in one exhilarating hour of calorie burning, heart racing, body energising awe-inspired movements meant to engage and captivate for life.

Origins of Zumba®  

Zumba® was created by a Colombian, Alberto "Beto" Perez. He used to work as a fitness instructor in Columbia.

One day he forgot the music for his class, so he quickly improvised by using the Latin tapes he had on his walkman and combined that with some aerobic steps.

His class loved it and they asked for more.

The rest is history...

Zumba® has become almost a revolution in past years. Using the concept of "Fitness Party" and making fitness fun, Zumba® has spread like wildfire and has positioned itself as the single most influential movement in the fitness industry.

It is estimated there are 6 million Zumba® fanatics participating across 75 countries everyweek.
